Pottery by American Indian Women: The Legacy of Generations
Published in Hardcover by Abbeville Press, Inc. (August, 1997)
Authors: Susan Peterson, Washington, D.C. National Museum of Women in the Arts, and Phoenix Heard Museum
Average review score:

Stunning book highlighting the innovators of Indian pottery
Susan Peterson has done a fabulous job highlighting the matriarchs (Nampeyo, Maria Martinez, Lucy Lewis, Margaret Tafoya), matrilineal line (Fanny and Dextra Nampeyo, The Lewis Women, Lu Ann Tafoya, Nancy Youngblood Lugo), and avant-gard (Alice Cling, Nora Naranjo-Morse, Jacquie Stevens) women artists who have maintained and expanded this ancient art form into the 20th-century. This retrospective featuring innovators of Native American pottery is a beautifully-illustrated book and a must for anyone interested in this art form. You will not be disappointed. Buy it while you can in the clothbound edition.

Revolutionary Boston Comes Alive!
This guidebook is a great read - if you are not now planning a trip to the Boston area you will surely want to once you finish! I'd like to catch the next plane out of Honolulu & go on a tour. The author makes history come alive again. He clears up many misconceptions & tells what really happened. His style of writing is reader friendly. In addition to being a comprehensive guidebook it is also worth reading for anyone interested in Revolutionary History. Lots of pictures too.

Scariest Stories You've Ever Heard, Part III
Published in Mass Market Paperback by PAGES Publishing Group - Willowisp Press (December, 1991)
Authors: Tracey E Dils and Tracey E. Dils
Average review score:

Third time's a charm: A truly terrifying series
This series of stories are the best selection of terrifying tales and urban legends and folklore. Sadly, they no longer print them, but I recommend you order one used - no matter what the condition! The books aren't many pages, but there is a good number of stories (about a dozen, maybe more) and you will want to stop and think (and turn on the lights) after each.

The best rituals you can use with these stories are to tell them to your friends. Some are common, and others are rare tales. You can change the dates and names to make it have happened closer to home...

...if you aren't too scared!

The Secrets of Communication : Be Heard and Get Results
Published in Paperback by Simon & Schuster (January, 2000)
Author: Peter Thomson
Average review score:

Unlock the mysteries of successful communication
The man behind this book, Peter Thomson, really uses all the techniques mentioned in this book. I know because I've been lucky enough to meet him. He is a big, tall man who people quickly warm to because of his inherent 'presence'. He naturally has a commanding air about him, which lends itself very well to his profession of speaking at seminars. Peter is very adept at knowing when to pause, when to speak and what to say to provoke 'active' thought and 'active listening'. He's also very tuned in to his audience, and can turn around a topical answer on the spot.

This book is a very comprehensive and gives fully explained examples of how to use the many different communication techniques available to all of us. It's true to say that the methods and ideas in the book are not so much secrets, as mysteries to most people. And that's why until they are fully explained and broken down into chunks of information, with such clarity and insight by the author, it is normally challenging to comprehend many of them.

I think beginners would probably feel more confident reading one chapter at a time and practising some of the techniques before using them 'live'. The more competent communicators amongst you would certainly have no problems using the methods 'live' first time. It is an unequivocal fact that everyone can certainly learn something new. You will also find it very useful to re-visit the book, time after time, especially as your confidence grows. You will come up with new thoughts and new ideas to try out. After all, Peter has been doing this for over twenty years and he still manages to keep his ideas fresh and up to date!

Seduction Lines: Heard 'Round the World and Answers You Can Give/a World Book of Lines
Published in Paperback by Prometheus Books (September, 1987)
Authors: Sol Gordon and Rita Fecher
Average review score:

Great gift for every teenager.
A great gift for every teenager you know. Gordon gives examples of "pick-up lines"
and good comeback lines to them. Something to help young people retain control of a
situation without embarassment. If Conservatives really want to lower teen pregnancy rates they
should give every teenager in America a copy! The day I got my first copy it was a hit with
my dinner companions - except for the man who said "Hey, that's my best line! What am I
supposed to say now?" Alice E. Hadle

A fun book with lots of inexpensive, creative activities
This is a great book! My daughter and I enjoyed celebrating together. This book will make a great gift for my family and friends - especially at this price! The best part is my daughter could do many of the crafts and activities by herself or with very little supervision, leaving time for me to cook dinner without any whining! (Hers)
